Montessori Fall Activities

Fall is my favorite time of year, so I was so excited to make fun Montessori Fall activities for my son. I like to plan for 2-3 months of activities for my toddler, so these got us through September through November. Below, I have pictures of everything I set up, along with links to all the wonderful places I got inspiration.

You can also check out my Fall Sensory Activities here.

Pumpkin Threading Activity

Pumpkin threading is great for hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills. This was super simple to make. I found an image of a pumpkin on the internet, printed it out, and laminated it. After that cut it out and took a hole punch to make the holes. I used the twine I had for the string and put a bead on one end and tape on the other. You can also use a yarn needle, and I think that is a great idea.

Language Cards

My son absolutely loves what I call language cards. For this theme, I did Fall, Halloween, Thanksgiving, and added in some new colder-weather clothing. Again, I found pictures on the internet, printed them out, and laminated them. There are so many possibilities with the cards. My son loves to just look at them, and we talk about what we see, which is great for language development. You can also put them in a sensory bin, print out two for matching, or hide them around the house.

Googly Eyed Ghosts

This project was on the fly, and also what our table usually looks like. I saw a friend paint ghosts with her son, so I thought this would be fun. I had my son finger paint white paint on black paper. It ended up being a great sensory activity. After they dried, I cut out the ghosts, and he practiced gluing on the eyes. This can be done in so many different ways with pumpkins, bats, and leaves. The really fun part is that we turned these into Halloween decorations and put them on our wall.

Pumpkin Painting

This one was so easy! I found this pumpkin at Hobby Lobby for under $10 and decided to let Ryan paint it. There are lots of pumpkin painting projects out there but this one will last forever. All I did was give Ryan some paint and a paintbrush. I put the paint in small mason jars so Ryan could keep coming back to it, and we weren’t wasting paint. He loved it, and it sat on our shelf for a couple of weeks. I think I will bring it out again around Thanksgiving with something else he can put on the pumpkin, like gluing tissue paper.

Stamping

I picked these cute fall stamps and washable ink pads at Michaels for only a couple of bucks. Stamping is great for fine motor skills, sequencing of ink to paper, and even strengthens the muscles in the hand that are needed in order to write. I love this activity also because you can keep stamping on the same piece of paper for multiple days.

Montessori Fall Activity

Playdough

Playdough is always a hit in our house. For this batch, I mixed up some fall colors and added some fall-related cookie cutters. I got these ones at Michaels and love how small they are. My son also loves Fondant Stampers.

Fall Color Matching

My son has been obsessed with naming the color of things, even though almost everything is yellow. For this one, I printed out some of the language cards larger. I then painted the corresponding squares. You can use anything for the color cards. These are available in my Free Downloads

Dot Art

This one is so fun and simple. These FREE dot pictures came from The Resourceful Mama. She has tons of amazing free printables. This one also came with at least 5 different pictures. I highly recommend checking her out.
