The Durham Food Hall did not disappoint.
Saturday, we didn’t do much while the hubby worked, so we decided to get out of the house and try out a new place to eat dinner. Since moving to the Triangle, we’ve seen tons of restaurants that look amazing, so we’ve been making an effort to get out there and try some. We decided on the Durham Food Hall because of how fun it looked and the fact that they have 10 different eateries and 2 bars!
I absolutely loved the big open tables where you can seat yourself. First, we picked a table, then we took turns walking around looking at the menus. You can also look at the menus on your phone and order directly from your phone, which is great, so you don’t have to wait in line.
They have a seafood place, Mexican, Southern, Asian, Italian Pasta, woodfired pizza, deli with house-cured meats, dessert bar, house-made bagels, a coffee shop, and an apothecary.
I wasn’t hungry, so I decided to just order a cocktail from the Auctioneer Bar. I can’t for the life of me remember what it was called, but it had tequila, jalapeno, and apple. Let’s just say it is a small but mighty drink.
Aaron started with oysters from Locals Oyster Bar and a delicious IPA from HopFly Brewery. Then he decided to go back and order their Calabash Basket that had fried fish, shrimp, and oysters.
After that, we had some warm chocolate hunk cookies from Afters. These cookies were fantastic. They weren’t too sweet and were the perfect dessert.
Something we didn’t realize is that Durham Central Park is right next to the Durham Food Hall, so after we ate, we walked over to the playground for Ryan to run around. It was a pretty perfect Saturday evening. I highly recommend trying it out.
While working on this post, we ended up going back to the Durham Food Hall to try Everything Bagels for breakfast. Yes, we went twice in less than 5 days. These are seriously some of the best bagels I have ever had, and I eat a lot of bagels. They are so inventive. I had the Tumeric and Caraway bagel with the scallion cream cheese, and Aaron had the Togarashi Sesame bagel with kimchi cream cheese. Both were so stinking good I could eat a dozen of each.
